The Indian man being eyed for the PM’s position has a strong selling proposition- a strong stance on China from UK. But there is a controversy brewing over this as well. Truss however seems to have gotten the majority. Skin is the winning bet along with her solid thinking and purpose to bring well needed transformation. Opinion polls have already given their verdict- putting her well ahead in the crucial hunt for votes from the 200,000 grassroots Tory members . Results are to be declared by September 06. Sunak seems to be trying hard to make an impression. China is the new bet for that. He promises to take a strong stand if elected against Beijing and Kremlin both. Blame it on Liz Truss attack on Sunak’s weak stance over the powerful nations of the world. Johnson has held a soft stance throughout for China- that is something Sunak would want to encash on. In his defense, he has said, that he intends to close of all 30 Confucius Institutes in Britain, preventing the soft-powe...

Why Johnson Doesn’t Approve Of Sunak As Britain’s Next PM?

Image
Boris Johnson does not want Rishi Sunak to replace him. The withdrawn PM has not totally withdrawn from the situation. The biggest bone of contention is the sense of betrayal that he has felt from the former chancellor of the exchequer. A surprising revelation is that, Johnson feels that his downfall has been because Sunak somewhere had been plotting against the leadership and paving way for his own succession. What is also coming in focus is Sunak’s association with Indian IT millionaire Narayana Murthy as his son-in-law. There is no evidence of open recommendations by Mr. Johnson, but unofficially, he feels inclined towards ‘woman power’ and is indirectly hinting at the candidature of foreign secretary Liz Truss. Also, he seems to be open and welcoming towards the appointment of junior trade minister Penny Mordaunt for the top job. The Times quoted sources as saying: “The whole No. 10 team hates Rishi. It’s personal. It’s vitriolic. They don’t blame Saj [Sajid Javid] for bringi...

The Power Pact Asian-Immigrant Race for British PM Position

Image
It’s an interesting fight coming around next week in 10 Downing Street as Boris Johnson with a whirlwind in his head decided to quit as PM. He bowed down to pressure and has left the seat open to some of the most interesting contenders. For starters is Narayanmurthi’s son-in-law and finance minister in 2020, Rishi Saunak. 1.   Rishi Saunak: He promised reform even though there has been huge tax burden on UK after his tax-and-spend formula didn’t work well. He announced his candidature through a video recently. 2.    Nadhim Zahawi: He is an interesting man with his survivor story of coming to UK from Iraq as a refugee and surviving it to go onto become the new finance minister. 3.   Liz Truss : What truly goes into her favor is her carefully cultivated PR image. No wonder, the foreign secretary has been the darling of the Conservative Party`s grassroots and has regularly topped polls of party members carried out by the website Conservative Home. 4. ...

Johnson Pushes Back Pressure To Step Down Ahead Of Police Investigations Over Covid-19 Protocol Negligence

Image
While the British are keen that the current PM Boris Johnson might resign, he isn’t budging from 10 Downing Street, sources have confirmed. The nudging comes when during a parliamentary session the opposition leader Keir Starmer said that it was time Johnson thought about resigning as the Scotland Yard would open its own investigation into parties held during COVID-19 lockdown at Downing Street. The session could be seen as unpleasant, full of shouts and allegations. Johnson defended his leadership and presented achievements. But in response, the party gate has accused him of ‘demeaning the office of the Prime Minister.’ It seems Johnson’s Conservative government continues to be not in the good books due to certain glitches that happened at the time of the lockdown. One major one was the surprise party for his 56th birthday in the midst of a peaked Covid-19 scare that was heavily criticized and showed recklessness on the part of the UK Prime Minister. It is believed that Bo...

Lukewarm Action In G20 Over Crucial Climate Change Crisis

Image
Britain sounds off siren over those responsible really of increasing emission rates doing nothing.... The G20 summit ended at Rome with few commitments and realisations by the world leaders on the importance on concrete action’s to be taken. There have been comments regarding the world’s biggest economies failing to agree on anything significant to climate change. Two days of intensive talks made the global leadership realised the importance of meaningful and effective action by all countries to avoid the global temperatures to rise above 1.5 degree Celsius, set forth by Paris agreement. A joint commitment to hit this goal by 2050, before it turns into a catastrophe was also realised, though China and Russia are pushing this goal to 2060. Additionally, a commitment was reached to stop Publicly financing coal generation. Although the timeline for complete phaseout of coal usage as an energy source was not yet done. United States, United Kingdom China and Russia are responsible for 80% ...

Britain Moves Closer To Canada In Trade

Image
With renewal of trade agreement with Canada, Britain has signed its second major partnership agreement in less than a month This is going to be a long-lasting friendship-Trudeau and Johnson renew trade agreement  Photo courtsey: The Star (Canada) Boris Johnson has a strategy in place;  and nothing is going to change his mind about his course of action. His latest movement is towards Canada. He is moving ahead to replace trade partner EU with the maple leaf country.  Canada has been so far, Britain's 12th biggest trade partner. With the trade agreement poised to be signed soon, Canada's position might just become stronger. Will this lead to Canada joining hands with Britain over its need for acquiring surplus Covid-19 vaccine, is something the political analysts feel is a possibility.  But Boris Johnson isn't going to extend a very long helping hand, unless it means strengthening Britain's position as a newly exited sovereignty from the European Union. The accord agre...

Sanctions To Be Imposed If Arms Embargo Violated in Libya

Image
Leaders of eleven nations get together to cement the peaceful future of Libya at the Berlin Summit In a recently concluded Berlin summit, world leaders contemplated a permanent solution to the unstable conditions of governance in Libya. The common consensus is for an ‘enduring ceasefire’ that cannot be achieved unless outside forces are stopped from escalating the war conditions by providing military know-how. It has been agreed that if players like Turkey have to be kept at bay, a stringent arms embargo is important to be in place. The violation of the embargo would be met with stringent sanctions imposed. Country or countries might also have to face the wrath of multinational force. For the 11 countries in participation, the agenda was the same- to end the war between the UN recognized Libyan government in Tripoli and forces of General Khalifa Haftar . By doing this, the world nations are ensuring Turkey does not get a quick route through Libya to Mediterran...

How Britain Prepares For Iran-US Impact

Image
With Boris Johnson missing in action, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab speaks for Britain and sounds unshakable support to its biggest military ally, the United States Dominic Raab has made a balanced public statement as a sound trade ally for the US With the US having opened a door of offensive against Iran, the world fears the worst. According to British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab “Iran might want to take its revenge by attacking the American allies. On the orders of Donald Trump, the US assassinated Gen Qasem Soleimani , commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Quds force. While Britain holds a balanced diplomatic stand, it has not shared the best relationship with Tehran in the last few months. Many citizens holding dual citizenship have been captive in Iran, and despite repeated requests had not been released. But 10 Downing Street, the US is its biggest military trade partner. There are reasons British parliament would want to side with the US. B...

Why Boris Johnson Does Not Want Trump Meddling With British Politics

Image
Britain is also becoming familiar with Trump's childish habit of entering everyone's house, unannounced. This time, they are putting a stop to it  PM Boris Johnson has made it very clear that he does not want Mr. Donald Trump meddling with Britain’s election on his visit to the NATO Summit in London. As a symptomatic trait, Trump has been poking his nose around as in October, he reportedly made a statement, stating that opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn would be “so bad” for Britain and that Johnson should agree on a pact with Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage . Strangely, his immaturity had to be curtailed by an official statement from the White House. But senior Conservatives still have their doubts and have reasons to be ‘nervous’ on the possibility that Trump could (in all probability) upset the campaign when in London, just over a week before the Dec. 12 election, which polls indicate Johnson is on course to win....
