A Sydney woman Rayan Hamdoush recently gave birth to a baby boy. She is amongst the 67 refugees caught in the camp awaiting repatriating. Of these 47 are children under the age of five years. The camp has been primarily home to the captured wives and children of Islamic State fighters, in the now-contested north-east of Syria.
