Biden Prioritizes Children Education Post Covid-19 Recovery
Biden administration is serious about prioritizing education and they are doing everything possible to get it back on track
The Biden administration is taking Covid-19 testing in schools extremely seriously, so much so that they will be investing $10 billion in the whole process. This is being done in order to ensure schools can reopen safely at the earliest. Children have been most affected by the extended periods of lockdown and pandemic spread.
The fund would be allocated towards testing school fraternity staff and student. The Department of Health and Human Services(HSS) has further stated that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local health departments will also help schools to set up these programs, and that the final allocations will be made to health departments in early April 2021.
According to HSS and other world health services, testing in the most critical step to prevention of spread and further treatment. It is worth noting that vaccination is in full drive in America as it other parts of the world. But till the time, the vaccine can be made available to everyone, testing should continue to be done on a periodical basis.
School children and staff are most vulnerable to catch the virus. But Biden administration prioritizes education as much as climate change and fair ethnic representation. Therefore, the Education Department announced states like Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia will receive a combined $122 billion from the American Rescue Plan that President Joe Biden signed last week, to ensure children can get back to classrooms. The money indeed is going to where it belongs, for a change.
According to Education Secretary of State, Miguel Angel Cardona, “This pandemic has taken an extraordinary toll on students, parents, educators, and schools and we know that our schools, students, and communities need help now to reopen safely and quickly, and to stay open.”
Further, he has confirmed in the media that, “These funds from the American Rescue Plan and the extraordinary steps the Department is taking to get these resources to States quickly will allow schools to invest in mitigation strategies to get students back in the classroom and stay there, and address the many impacts this pandemic has had on students -- especially those disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.”
