Can India Take On China and Pakistan Together At Sea?

While China has been gaining control over its naval prowess with the help of Pakistan, India will need to double its power to match to enemies. The new battle ground is right in our backyard- the Indian Ocean. India has preparedness to handle Pakistan but China might be another ball game, all together.

In a private commissioning ceremony, China delivered the PNS Tughril to Pakistan one of its most advanced state-of-the-art warships. Islamabad is definitely ecstatic to get support from the world’s most powerful economy.

The focus point is in the Indian Ocean as India has solidified its position on its land forces. China is hell bent to break the fortress through water force now. Obviously, the Pakistani ambassador to China had reasons to say that adding the frigate to its collection of eight submarines that China will give to Pakistan in 2028, Pakistan’s stands to strengthen its service’s ability to respond to maritime challenges, ensure seaward defence, and maintain peace, stability and the regional balance of power.

Even now, India holds India has 285 naval warships while Pakistan has only 100 ships. While India has 17 submarines (16 diesel-powered and 1 nuclear-powered), Pakistan has only nine diesel-powered submarines. Also, when it comes to frigates, India tops Pakistan. But Pakistan will only receive more from China in 2028. There is still time for them to match India’s preparedness. India still has a tough battle at its hand.

China dominates the largest naval fleet in the world. At the end of 2020, the size of China's navy was approximately 360, according to formal estimates. China also possesses more than 70 submarines, including seven nuclear ballistic missile submarines (SSBN), 12 nuclear attack submarines (SSN), and more than 50 diesel attack submarines.
