‘Kamala Harris Couldn’t Hold Her Office Together And Quit The Presidential Race’
It is not really her background that has gone against this promising presidential candidate....
A
promising democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has pulled herself
off the race citing reasons of low election campaign funds. But critics feel
that is not the real reason for her to calling it a day. The half Indian,
half Jamaican American citizen feels the “people are not ready for a woman
president and that also black.”
It seems the American psyche is still drenched
in conventionalism and tradition that goes back to their roots. Barack Obama
calling the shots, being a black man in America, is a monumental victory for
the coloured community. He ran for two successful terms and made the life
easy and affordable for America. Under his leadership the United States did
see growth and enjoyed stability.
Maybe the same cannot be said for Kamala
Harris, who had been San Francisco’s high-profile district attorney for more
than six years since 2004. She credits her African American upbringing to her
single immigrant Indian mother, who happily embraced the African culture in
America and never looked back.
She was being looked at a very promising future
presidential candidate and second to Obama as a biracial president, if she
made it to the White House. However, Harris has been well aware of her lack of
traction to her identity, explaining that many “aren’t
ready" for her, given her race and gender.
Many others feel that it is not because of her
colour and race that she hadn’t made a mark with the people. In fact, many
African Americans feel their lives have been more miserable since she took
over as a district attorney. On the contrary, the country that brought Obama
to power would like a coloured woman president for a change. But it is more
of Harris election mismanagement and also lack of resources which has not
gone in her favour. She has to her
discredit inconsistent messaging and a disunited staff. Aids were laid off
without any notice.
It is therefore no surprise that her
disgruntled lot went out and spoke to media openly, showing her lack of
control and leadership with her team. The New York Times actually got a huge
lot to speak to them. According to more than 50 current and former campaign
staff members and allies, Harris’ advisers made flawed decisions about which
states to focus on, issues to emphasize and opponents to target. At fault was
probably inability to make difficult personnel choices to impose order on an
unwieldy campaign.
The result is that Harris is out and those
contesting and challenging Trump seem to be a few. Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is sure he can
give Trump a tough fight but whether anyone from the other popular names can
give him a run for his money, only time will tell. This includes, Senator
Elizabeth Warren, Democrat hopeful Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
