Why Free Speech Is More Hate Speech- Zara Designer Attacks Palestinian Model In Verbal Lash On Social Media
Palestinians all over the world are getting support in one way or the other and the fashion industry is no different
With the lead designer of Zara brand making a huge mistake of attacking a Palestinian model on social media, her career is now in jeopardy. Venessa Perilman made derogatory remarks about a Palestinian model in her instagram which has received huge criticism from the world wide social media fraternity. The world is up and arms against the brand and is seeking a mass boycott of the brand itself. Post pandemic, this could spill trouble for the brand.
Zara has already been asked to take strict action against the designer who apparently, gave a public apology and then took down her remarks.
The model in question is Qaher Harhash who apparently had made some pro-Palestine remarks and had posted them online. The attack comes as a response to her posts. She later also posted screenshots of their conversation on Instagram. The publicised exchange caused thousands of Twitter users to call out Zara for their lack of action.
Zara has made a public statement saying it has an internal enquiry in place. Perilman is said to have defended Israeli war crimes, reproaching the Palestinian people and the Muslim faith. Free speech is definitely a thing of the past. Caught in the web of deceit, half truths, created war and famine like conditions, engineered viruses, it is become impossible for anyone to find the freedom to vent their emotions, even though how skewed they maybe. And if you do belong to a fashion label of a well known brand, chances are, you have sold your soul to the devil and cannot experience free will.
"Maybe if your people were educated then they wouldn't blow up the hospitals and schools that Israel helped to pay for in Gaza," Perilman wrote to Harhash, who is from occupied East Jerusalem. "Israelis don't teach children to hate nor throw stones at soldier as your people do."
The designer concluded her anti-Palestinian tirade with an Islamophobic remark. "Also I think it's funny [sic] that your [sic] a model because in reality that is against what the Muslim faith believes in and if you were to come out of the closet in any Muslim country you would be stoned to death," Perilman wrote.
After posting Perilman's initial attack, the model shared a screenshot of a segment from a follow-up conversation between the two. Seemingly concerned about the prospect of losing her job, Perilman offered an apology for taking her anger out on the model.
