Al Hosn App Now Makes Digital Passes Possible For Hajj Pilgrimage

An online Hajj permit service has been launched by Al Hosn National Health System on its Al Hosn app in co-operation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE).

The Al Hosn National Health System is affliated to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP). The service aims to facilitate Hajj procedures,  and in turn save precious time for pilgrims'. This service will also help them and enhance their confidence in the efficiency and development of national health procedures.

Additionally, it will also support the ongoing efforts of the two entities that have been trying to enter the digitisation arena; as they can now shift from paper based permits to digitised versions of them.

Al-Hosn System has clarified that an electronic Hajj permit is mandatory for any individual leaving the country for Hajj, even if he has received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and a booster shot. "There are several procedures and mechanisms that everyone wishing to perform the Hajj must fulfil to ensure obtaining the "Green Pass" that allows them to travel safely," the formal press note added.

Along with the digital permits, those travelling on Hajj have already been monitored for any Covid-19 occurrences, vaccine status, possible mutant strains, illness etc of any kind, so that there is no transmission and a comfortable pilgrimage can be guaranteed.

One travellers go through a four step process of verification, they are given the permit automatically. These steps include A negative PCR test no later than (72 hours) before the date of travel; attaching certificates of obtaining the "meningitis" vaccine (compulsory), and the "seasonal influenza and pneumococcal" vaccines (optional) from one of the health centres approved by MoHAP, and health authorities; in addition to "attaching a report on the medical condition of the person wishing to travel (fit) from the approved health authorities, and finally, attaching a travel permit for Hajj.

However, it has to be noted that the "electronic Hajj permit" will appear in grey if: (1) "the PCR test expires 72 hours before travel, (2) required vaccinations are not received, (3) the medical report is not obtained, or (4) if the Hajj travel approval is not obtained from the competent authorities," while the permit will appear in red if the result of the (PCR) test is positive.
